Kana no Michi is a Japanese kana learning app. This policy describes what the app does with your data, in plain language, because there isn't much to describe.
What we collect
- Nothing, by default. You can use the whole app without an account. Your learning progress (which characters you've studied, your review history, streaks, and settings) is stored on your device.
- If you create an account (optional): your email address, the display name you enter, and a copy of your learning progress, so it can sync across your devices. This is stored with our database provider, Supabase, on servers in Sydney, Australia. Passwords are handled by Supabase's authentication service; we never see them.
- If you send feedback (optional): whatever you type into our feedback form, which is a Google Form and is covered by Google's privacy policy.
Advertising
The free version of the app shows occasional interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising ID to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Purchasing the one-time Study Unlock removes all advertising.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data, to anyone, for any purpose.
- We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or any device permission beyond what the app visibly needs.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
Deleting your data
In the app: Settings → Delete account and progress erases your progress from your device and deletes your synced progress from our servers. To have your account login record removed as well, or for any other data request, email us and we'll do it within 30 days.
Children
The app is designed for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Accounts are optional; a child can use the app entirely offline with no data collected.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date.
