Terms of Use
Kana no Michi (app.kananomichi) and kananomichi.app · Last updated 2 August 2026
These terms apply to the Kana no Michi app and website. By using either, you agree to them. They're written to be read, not to scare you.
1. What Kana no Michi is
Kana no Michi is a study tool for learning to read Japanese kana. It is an educational aid, not a certification: we make no promise about how fast you'll learn or any outcome from using it.
2. Your account
- Accounts are optional. If you create one, keep your password to yourself: you're responsible for activity on your account.
- Give us a real email address; it's how account recovery and deletion requests work.
- You can delete your account and data at any time (see how deletion works).
3. The Study Unlock purchase
- The Study Unlock is a one-time in-app purchase made through your app store (Google Play or the App Store). It is not a subscription and never renews.
- It unlocks katakana content and additional practice modes, and removes advertising, on any device where you're signed in to the same store account or app account.
- Refunds are handled by the store you bought it from, under that store's refund policy.
4. Fair use
Don't abuse the service: no attempting to break, overload or reverse our servers, no reselling the app or its content, and no using the service to do anything illegal. We can suspend accounts that do.
5. Content and ownership
The app, website, and their content (design, text, audio, mnemonics, code) belong to us or our licensors. Stroke-order data derives from KanjiVG (CC BY-SA 3.0). You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for learning — nothing more is granted.
6. Advertising
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. Ad content comes from third parties and we don't endorse what's advertised. See our privacy policy for what data is involved.
7. No warranty; limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent the law allows, we exclude all implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't be excluded — where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to re-supplying the service or refunding what you paid for it.
8. Ending things
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or end accounts that break these terms. We may discontinue the service; if we ever do, we'll give reasonable notice.
9. Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
10. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
